Basic course

This course offers the participant a tool to appreciate the role of the executive committee, the committees, delegates and the union representative. He will be able to better understand the importance and how to establish an expenditure policy and keep accounting records, to prepare and lead a general assembly as well as to write minutes.

This course requires to have completed the course  A102.

This course completes the training of an union delegate and the member of a base unit executive. The participant will be able to identify a situation deserving the lodging of a grievance and draft a grievance if necessary.

This course requires to have completed both A102 and A103 courses.

This course offers the participant a tool allowing him to be able to constitute a grievance dossier, to plan an enquiry, to produce an enquiry report and to understand the arbitration procedure of grievances.

This course requires the Participant to sit on a bargaining Committee

This course provides the member with a better understanding of the entire process of negotiating a collective agreement. It also informs the members of the Negotiating Committee on various bargaining trends or practices. This course also aims to highlight the legitimacy of union demands and the involvement of members in this process.

This course provides the participant with an awareness regarding the accident’s prevention in its work place. With this training, the participant will be able to identify a work related accident, to know his rights and the role of the Union towards CNESST the importance of implementing an health and security committee and produce an accident inquiry.

This course is specifically for women.

This course will allow a better understanding of the women’s situation compared to men’s situation. This course also intends  to identify the Union’s challenges, especially in the area of Health and Safety depending on the worker’s gender. The purpose of this course is to equip  the women regarding their rights and their recourses concerning Health and Safety at work.

The following course is offered in French only.

This course gives the participant the means to estimate the financial situation of the company and to act to protect the jobs. He will be able to analyze the functioning of the company in order to estimate its financial situation, to get acquainted with the financial language, to understand the impact of the collective agreement on the cost of workforce and production, to mobilize the members by establishing a preventive approach in the working environment.

This course allows the participant to get the necessary information making him able to re- cognize the situations that could lead to psychological harassment and those who constitute real harassment. He will be able to prevent these situations  and  will know the recourses available.

The following course is offered in French only.

This course informs the participant about the insufficiency of the public pension plans and about the possible alternatives. He will be able to  understand the functioning of the current plans of Quebec, to estimate his retirement’s  financial needs, to know the alternatives to mitigate the insufficiency  or the public system, to  understand the necessity of establishing a complementary pension plan under labor-union control at work.
