Bulletin
SEU800 Excellence Grants

25 February 2026

Academic education is one of the most powerful drivers of personal and economic empowerment. It opens doors, broadens horizons, and provides the tools to understand the world and to find one’s place within it. But we know that free education comes at a cost.

That is why, each year, 800 awards six $1,000 excellence scholarships to young people from the families of our members. It is a concrete way to recognize their journey and perseverance, and to offer meaningful support to those building their future through passion and hard work.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for these scholarships, applicants must:

  • Be enrolled full time in a professional program (1,800-hour DEP), college, or university studies
  • Be a member of UES800 or have a parent who is a member of UES800
  • Have paid union dues for at least two years as of January 1, 2026
  • Have never previously received an 800 academic excellence scholarship

SCHOLARSHIPS

SIX SCHOLARSHIPS WILL BE AWARDED:

  • One scholarship per 800 division (5), awarded on the basis of merit
  • One Jury’s Choice Scholarship, awarded to a remarkable academic journey distinguished by commitment, perseverance, or impact

Applications are reviewed by a university professor who is independent from the union, based on clear and rigorous criteria. Recognizing merit is not simply about looking at grades. It is also about valuing effort, resilience, commitment, and the ability to move forward, sometimes despite obstacles.

These scholarships are one of the many ways 800 supports its members and their families. Being unionized is not only about defending working conditions. It is also about belonging to a community that believes in its people, invests in knowledge, and supports the next generation.
