Talks continue with McGill University on working hours

11 December 2013

At the December 3 meeting, the university submitted its proposal on working hours for the trade groups, which included discussions about schedules and a proposal for employees’ work schedules in Athletics.  Although the union agreed in general with the proposal, it made some demands for employees in Athletics, notably in sports services and physical activity. The feasibility of accepting these demands while honouring commitments to client services is being assessed and a response will be provided to the union at the next meeting.  Contents of the agreements concerning working hours at Powerhouse downtown and for trades and powerhouse Macdonald campus will be reviewed a the next meeting, set for December 12.

The 4 bargaining units involved in these negotiations are employees from trades and from powerhouse downtown, and employees from trades and from powerhouse Macdonald campus, represented by SEU, local 800 (Service Employees Union, local section 800, affiliated with the Quebec Labour Federation).
