Agreement with McGill on separating food and dining from residences

5 December 2013

At the November 6 meeting, the university presented the content of a letter of agreement about the separation of food and dining from residences, resulting in two different structural units.  Until now, food and dining was a sub-section of residences. Upon signing of the agreement, the food and dining unit will be called dining services while residences will be called housing services.

The parties have agreed to review other articles relating to this topic, which may need to be adjusted to reflect the new departmental structure.  This will take place at the next bargaining session, on November 13.

A modified version of the article on seasonal layoffs was also tabled.  The union conducted a thorough review of the suggested content and proposed several changes.  The parties later ratified the documents, which mirrored previous discussions.  Both parties said they were satisfied with the outcome of these discussions.

The 3 bargaining units in question are: computing centre, printing services and facilities management/residences/Faculty Club, represented by SEU (Service Employees Union, local section 800, affiliated with the Quebec Labour Federation).
