Women in Action

A space for listening, solidarity and collective action

Mental load, work-family balance, violence, harassment, economic insecurity and inequalities experienced in everyday life: many issues still disproportionately affect women, both personally and professionally. The 800’s Women in Action Committee provides a space to share, reflect and take collective action around these realities.

School supply drive

For many families, back-to-school season can be financially challenging. Yet something as simple as a notebook, pencils or a backpack can make a real difference in a child’s daily life.
That is why the 800’s Women in Action Committee organizes an annual school supply drive to support families and help give every student an equal opportunity to succeed.

International Women’s Day

Every year, on International Women’s Day, the Women in Action Committee organizes activities to highlight the struggles, realities and contributions of women in workplaces and in society. These gatherings are also an opportunity to raise awareness, encourage discussion among members and bring attention to issues that continue to affect many women workers every day.

Representation

The Women in Action Committee may represent the 800 at various activities, training sessions and events related to women’s rights and issues affecting living and working conditions.
