Labour Activism and Grievance Basics
For anyone who wants to better understand the union’s role, learn how to get involved and take part in collective decision-making.
Course description
Duration: 3 days from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
What you’ll learn:
- The role of the executive committee, delegates, and union representatives
- How to run a general assembly and take effective minutes
- How to manage your unit’s finances and set up an expense policy
- How to recognize situations that may lead to a grievance
- HWhen and how to file a grievance
- How to write a clear and effective grievance
You’ll gain a solid foundation to get involved in your union. You’ll understand how decisions are made, how to defend your rights and how to make a real difference for your coworkers. You’ll be able to act more quickly and confidently when faced with an unfair situation. This course gives you concrete tools to defend your colleagues and ensure the collective agreement is respected.
