New Cabinet Appointed in Quebec

The Quebec Federation of Labour (QFL) acknowledges the new cabinet put in place by Premier Fréchette and of the reappointment of Labour Minister Jean Boulet.

The QFL hopes that the new government leadership will bring renewed momentum to relations between the government and civil society. Among other things, workers deserve a Labour Minister who chooses dialogue and consultation over divisive legislation. At a time when several of Quebec’s industrial sectors are being affected by a tariff war and an international context that is putting jobs at risk in every region of Quebec, we need unifying leadership.

In this regard, the QFL is calling on the Quebec government not to reintroduce Bill 27 concerning collective agreement decrees and occupational health and safety in the construction industry.

On the immigration file, the QFL welcomes the appointment of a new minister, François Bonnardel, who must be committed to fulfilling the new Premier’s promise to grant grandfather clauses to foreign workers who have chosen to build a new life in Quebec.
