Press release
Beaulieu Canada doubles down on its workers

26 November 2025

In accordance with sections 53, 54 and 59 of the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information, the Service Employees Union, Local 800 (SEU 800), submitted an access-to-information request to identify the author of the complaint that led the Acton Vale City Council to prohibit the heated shelter used by Beaulieu Canada workers, who are now entering the eighth week of a lockout imposed by their employer.

We received the response today. Unsurprisingly, it turns out that it was the employer itself that filed the complaint with the City, which directly resulted in the removal of the heated shelter.

In other words, Beaulieu Canada deliberately placed its own employees in an even more precarious situation, stripping them of another measure of dignity: the ability to keep warm during their long days on the picket line.

“I’d like to say I’m surprised, but unfortunately this is entirely consistent with management’s behavior since the start of negotiations. They want to crush and control their employees, plain and simple,” said Alexis Roy, union representative for SEU 800.

Members are disappointed and outraged by these employer tactics which, instead of easing the conflict, only add pressure onto already strained workers. Despite this, they remain mobilized, united and determined to defend their rights and their dignity.
