Press release
“For now” is not good enough

24 November 2025

The Minister of Labor claims that collective agreement decrees “are not in danger… for now.”

But workers in Quebec already know where this kind of answer leads. We’ve heard this line far too many times. And more importantly, we’ve seen what comes next: contradictions, half-truths, deliberate attacks, and setbacks for collective rights.

On September 23, Alexandre Leduc released a ministerial document filled with anti-union proposals.

The very next day, Minister Jean Boulet told the media there was “nothing definitive.”

Thirty-six days later, he tabled Bill 3, a bill that directly undermines unions’ freedom to represent their members.

Words fade. Bills remain.

So no, we don’t trust this minister. When the Minister of Labor uses his position to weaken counterbalances, tours chambers of commerce to please employers and plays Russian roulette with collective protections, he forfeits any claim to our trust.

These decrees cover 90,000 people who deserve a decent minimum wage, regulated working hours, access to retirement, and real protection against abuse.

Abolishing these decrees means abandoning the most vulnerable among us.

Abolishing these decrees means allowing competition to take place on the backs of workers.

We will not accept this. And we will not stay silent.
