October 18: QFL marches for equality
16 October 2025
The Quebec Federation of Labour (QFL) will be out in force at the national gathering of the World March of Women, taking place on October 18 in Quebec City. Activists and allies from across the province are mobilizing to take part in this key event on the feminist calendar.
“For the QFL, the World March of Women is an opportunity to continue our fight for pay equity, against violence against women, and for a just ecological transition. We will march alongside women’s groups and other labour federations to denounce the persistent inequalities faced by women and to demand a fairer world,” said QFL President Magali Picard.
At a time when conservative ideas are on the rise and attacks on women’s and workers’ rights are multiplying, feminist mobilization is more urgent than ever.
“For the QFL, fighting violence, precarity, and the exploitation of women means building fairer, more humane, and more inclusive workplaces. The history of the labour movement is also a history of women who have fought, organized, and changed the world, one struggle at a time,” added the president.
Since the Bread and Roses March in 1995, the labour movement has played a central role in building feminist solidarity. Thirty years later, the FTQ reaffirms its commitment to a future free from violence, free from poverty, and uncompromising in the defense of our rights.
The QFL, Quebec’s largest central labour organization, represents more than 600,000 workers.
