Agreement in principle signed at PH Tech: solidarity pays off

27 June 2025

Québec City, June 20, 2025 – With a strike set to begin on June 22, union members at the PH Tech plant in Lévis officially ratified an agreement in principle during a last-chance mediation meeting held on June 19. After months of negotiations and a 95% strike mandate, the members of SEU 800 have once again shown that solidarity gets results.

“We were ready to go on strike to demand respect. But we’re even more pleased that we were able to avoid a conflict while securing major gains for our members,” said Paul-Émile Lechasseur, president of the union unit.

The agreement includes retroactive wage increases starting October 1, 2024, with an initial 8% raise, followed by annual increases ranging from 3% to 4%, ensuring meaningful wage catch-up for all employees still on the job at the time of signing. Significant progress was also made in addressing wage disparities, including pay parity for several specialized positions. All eligible members will also receive a $1,000 lump-sum payment, including those who had already announced their retirement.

The agreement also improves shift premiums and safety equipment reimbursements, offering better recognition of the realities of frontline work. In the longer term, a 1% increase in the employer’s contribution to the retirement savings plan, for employees with ten or more years of seniority, will help strengthen the financial security of those who have built PH Tech over the years.

“We reached this agreement together. It’s the result of our solidarity, our patience, and our determination to defend the dignity of our members,” said Dominic Poulin, union representative.

The bargaining committee wishes to warmly thank Guillaume Carrier, Vice-President, Guillaume Voyer, Secretary-Treasurer, as well as all members for their outstanding mobilization. This victory belongs to them. Together, we proved that there is strength in numbers.
