The QFL Women’s Triennial: An Event to respond to the sexist right wing with a feminist response

13 November 2024

The QFL Women’s Triennial is an event that highlights the issues and struggles of women in the world of work. Held every three years, the event brings together committed union and feminist activists to discuss the advancement and challenges that women are facing in their professional and personal lives.
The Triennial is much more than just a meeting; it’s a space for reflection, sharing experiences and strategies. Participants had the opportunity to attend conferences on exposing the right wing, given by Manal Drissi, a presentation by Nellie Brière on right-wing sexism on social networks, and workshops on taking a feminist stand in the union environment in preparation for the next QFL convention.
The feminist response is at the heart of the Triennale’s concerns. In a context where inequalities persist, women are mobilizing to claim their rights and make their voices heard. The QFL, as a union organization, plays an essential role in this struggle by supporting initiatives aimed at improving women’s working conditions and promoting their representation in decision-making bodies. To mark the occasion, a mobilization activity was organized to demonstrate our feminist response to an increasingly sexist right-wing.
The QFL Women’s Triennial is a must-attend event for anyone wishing to get involved in the fight for equality and social justice. QFL President Magali Picard was on hand to encourage exchanges and dialogue with QFL activists. The SEU 800 was well represented at this event, with the participation of more than ten women from our union, and they were able to exchange ideas, network and reflect together on the place of women in our union. By bringing together diverse voices and promoting dialogue, this event helps strengthen the feminist response and build a more equitable future for all. Future editions promise to be just as inspiring and decisive in the pursuit of these goals.
