96% strike mandate at Orléans

18 March 2024

The 77 members of the SEU 800, working at Autocars Orléans Express, voted at 96% in favour of an unlimited general strike, called at an appropriate time, at meetings held on March 14 and 15.  The 77 drivers have been without a contract since March 31, 2023.

The main issues at stake in these negotiations are wages and benefits.

Some 29 meetings have been held since March 9, 2023, including meetings with a conciliator and subsequently a mediator.

The territory covered by Autocars Orléans Express is intercity passenger transportation between Ottawa and Gaspé, including Montreal, Trois-Rivières, Drummondville, Quebec City, Rivière-du-Loup and Rimouski.

At the time of writing, two negotiation meetings are scheduled for March 20 and 21.  Pressure tactics will intensify in the weeks ahead if no progress is made at the bargaining table.
