Les Planchers Mercier Inc. – Agreement in principle accepted!

On indefinite general strike for nearly 5 days, the members of SEU 800 accepted the agreement in principle reached at the bargaining table on February 29 by a 97% margin. 

The members had been without a collective agreement since November 2023. Following the strike, the parties agreed to request the intervention of a TAT conciliator to help them reach an agreement.

Highlights of the new collective agreement

• Additional mobile leave;
• Wage increases of 5% for the first year of the agreement, 3% for the 2nd and 3rd years and finally the CPI (Consumer Price Index) rate for the last year of the agreement (minimum 2.5% to a maximum of 4%).
• Increase the length of breaks to 17 min, so that travel time to the employees’ room does not reduce the length of the break itself.

The collective agreement runs for 4 years. Over the next few weeks, the texts of the new agreement will be signed and sent to members.
