February – Black History Month

1 February 2024

Black History Month is celebrated annually in Quebec and other parts of the world by various public, private and community institutions.

In Quebec, several activities are organized to enable the population to discover the richness and diversity of black communities and to pay tribute to people who have distinguished themselves in various fields.

In Montreal, the Black History Month Round Table will be celebrating its 33rd edition under the theme Many Shades, One Story”.  A wide range of activities for all tastes will occur, including film screenings, major conferences and discussions with renowned personalities.

In Quebec City, the Table de concertation du Mois de l’histoire des Noirs will be organizing activities under the theme: Health and development of AfroCanadians: challenges and perspectives. The organization wants to raise awareness among Quebec City’s Black and Afro-descendant communities about the importance of taking care of all aspects of health (physical, mental, emotional, etc.) to find a harmonious balance in daily life.

At SEU 800, we encourage and are proud of the involvement of our Black union members and activists. We are grateful for their contribution to the community, workplace, and fight against discrimination.
