New collective agreement for Ébénisterie Cham-Bois Inc.

On October 19th, the 18 members of Ébénisterie Cham-Bois voted unanimously to renew their collective agreement. Only two meetings were necessary to reach an agreement between the negotiating committee and the employer.

The new collective agreement will provide an additional day for statutory holidays, and will also increase the number vacation of weeks after twelve (12) years of seniority, an improvement in premiums and reimbursement of the cost of safety boots or shoes. Members will also have the possibility to take advantage of a summer schedule of four (4)10-hour days per week.

The three-year contract includes a significant wage increase. In the first year of the agreement, members will receive an increase of $2 per hour worked and in the following two years, their rate will be increased by $0.75 annually. Note that the first wage increase was applied more than five weeks before the end of the previous collective agreement. In addition, a seniority bonus varying from $0.20/hr to $1.00/hr depending on the number of years of service within the company has been added.
