March 31st will mark one year since the expiry of the collective agreements for more than 500,000 workers of Quebec in the public and parapublic sectors.
Public sector unions have chosen to coordinate their efforts to mark this sad anniversary.
The eight union organizations (APTS, SCN, CSQ, FAE, FIQ, FTQ, SFPQ, SPGQ) invite you to be noisy throughout the day of March 31st. Let’s make our voices heard! Let us show, together, our solidarity and our determination to obtain better working conditions and better wages for all workers in the public services.
Under the theme « We are ringing the bells » local executive committees are invited to coordinate, where appropriate, with other unions in workplaces to determine when and how to ring the bells.
Here are a few examples to inspire you:
In a workplace, all union members set their phone or watch alarms at a specific time. You can even set the alarm several times during the day;
In a work environment or units where it is not possible to ring the alarms, you may honk upon arrival at work or upon departure;
When working from home, make sure that your phone rings during a meeting;
These are just a few examples. Be creative in your workplace. The important thing is to be heard by managers, the public and the government. The government must understand that they have the responsibility to act now to restore our public services.
Also, don’t hesitate to have your voice heard and seen in photos or videos on social media on March 31st using the hashtag #onsonnelalarme.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact your union advisors or the mobilization service of your union organization.
