School transportation: risk of an unlimited general strike as of may 8th, 2018
Gatineau, April 30th, 2018 – The bargaining committee representing the bus drivers of Autobus Outaouais Inc. will hold a last chance meeting with the employer on May 3rd, to try to break the deadlock in the renewal collective agreement. Following this meeting, the latest employer’s offers will be presented to members on May 7th, in a general meeting, and a decisive vote will be taken.
Union of Service Employees, Local 800 (FTQ) would like to inform the media that in the event that members vote to reject the agreement, the unlimited general strike will be called on May 8th, at 12:01 am. Approximately 2,000 students of the Western Quebec School Board would be deprived of school transportation.
The SEU 800-FTQ represents 24,000 workers throughout Quebec. Affiliated with the Quebec Federation of Labor, Quebec’s largest labor union, with more than 600,000 members.
