Royal Quebec Golf Club field employees locked out

14 April 2015

Boischatel-20150414-00131

Following a general meeting held on March 26 during which the employees of Royal Quebec Golf Club have unanimously rejected the employer’s proposal, a conciliation meeting was held on Thursday, April 9 in the presence of the mediator assigned.

During the meeting, the union has informed the Employer of the two elements still in dispute in the case, the work schedule and salary increase for 2014, considering that the collective agreement expired since December 2013. After the presentation of the union, the employers’ spokesperson announced that without the field employees’ acceptance of the employer’s proposal by Sunday evening, April 12, at 18.00, the Employer would declare a lockout on Monday, April 13. This is now done, the field employees are being locked out since Monday morning.

A special meeting was held in the afternoon of Sunday, April 12 and the members rejected at 95% the final offer of the Employer and gave a strike mandate to the Union.

The employees of the restaurant and the administration, who are members of another union certification in the same establishment, are not affected by this labor dispute despite their collective agreement was expired in December 2014. However, we are convinced that they will be in solidarity with their brothers and sisters in lockout. The Royal Quebec Golf Club is located in Boischatel, in the surburb of Quebec City.
