Press release
SEU local 800 victory against Louben Sportswear

16 January 2015

On January 12th, 2015, Louben Sporstwear contested in front of the Court of Appeal of Quebec a decision rendered by the Superior Court of Quebec regarding the employer’s debt to the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union (ILGWU).

In a unanimous decision, the three judges of the Court of Appeal confirmed the Superior Court’s judgment, whereas the employer, Louben Sportswear is responsible for a debt of $945,000.00 and has to pay this amount to the pension funds.

The payment of this amount will increase the monthly retirement pension to its 100% value for all employees and retirees of Louben Sportswear.

We will keep fighting on behalf of the SEU 800 members to recover the money from all the employers who are indebted to the Welfare Funds of ILGWU.
