Talks resume between McGill and SEU (facilities)

1 October 2014

On September 17, the parties went back to the negotiation table. After validation, the union withdrew its proposal on deferred leave.  The union also presented a formal proposal on phased retirement. The university will study this proposal and comment at an upcoming meeting.  The implications of this proposal on benefits and operations will be examined before providing comments to the union.

The union asked for clarification of language on articles relating to vacation scheduling and reference year. A change to the article on vacations was discussed and ratified by the parties and will be applied to the three collective agreements. Five negotiation days are planned until the end of 2014. The next meeting will be held on October 15.

The 3 bargaining units in question are: computing centre, printing services and facilities management/residences/Faculty Club, represented by SEU (Service Employees Union, local section 800, affiliated with the Quebec Labour Federation)
