Return to the bargaining table with McGill (facilities)

5 February 2014

On January 15, SEU met with the university for a full day bargaining session. The parties discussed at length what should be included in each of the collective agreements with regard to work uniforms and safety shoes. An agreement in principle was reached on the text to be included in two of the three collective agreements. The union presented its proposal for printing services which is being considered by the university. It will respond to union’s proposal at the next meeting. The university will also propose a final version in both languages of the agreed texts at the next meeting which will take place on February 5.

The parties also established the list of topics remaining to be covered under the interest based bargaining approach and set additional tentative dates for the coming months. These dates will be confirmed before the next meeting.

The 3 bargaining units in question are: computing centre, printing services and facilities management/residences/Faculty Club, represented by SEU (Service Employees Union, local section 800, affiliated with the Quebec Labour Federation).
