Agreement with McGill University on changes to grievance and dispute procedure

At the December 14 bargaining session, the parties continued to discuss simplification of the grievance and dispute procedure. They agreed to changes that will ease the flow of documents and foster discussions between the university and the union before referring cases to arbitration.

Changes were also agreed to concerning the timeframe for a grievance to be left pending before deciding if it will be taken to arbitration.  The parties signed off on elements relating to simplification and timeframe in the grievance and dispute procedure.

The parties will continue to discuss accessibility of documents in the grievance and dispute procedure at the next meeting scheduled for January 9, 2013.
