Press release
STRIKE DAY ON DECEMBER 9TH

27 November 2015

TO ALL MEMBERS OF SEU 800 WORKING IN SCHOOL BOARDS

On November 19th, we reported on the state of the negotiations, informing you that a new offer was to be presented by the Common Front and the postponement of the strike days that were scheduled for December 1st, 2nd and 3rd. By postponing these days, we wanted to help the negotiation to move forward and show the government our good faith and our desire to have a negotiated agreement.

Following the new offer, it seems that the government demonstrated no opening for salary increases and still wanted to change the pension plan. They do not want to discuss wages as long as we have not adjusted and accepted their request to amend the pension fund. In terms of the sectorial table, despite several meetings, we understand that the government spokesperson has no mandate, as the central table has not settled yet. We appear to be at a dead-end and again must put pressure on the government to show that we are strong and this is unacceptable.

Following a meeting of the negotiating coordinators and following the negative reactions of the Conseil du Trésor, the Common Front has decided that it would be important to reschedule strike days. Thus, we have opted for one national strike day.

So on December 9, we will picket, with the Common Front. So check your emails and your messages. Once again, your union executive will organize this day.

Let’s stay united; we cannot be inactive against this government!
